The photographer is Andrew Lin at [link] who was so kind to let me use his panoramic view of Tokyo. Thank you!
This was really hard, lol! This is something different from drawing girls. If it wasn't for the deadline I would probably have made more domes, more cool fx, a cleaner look and also clean the plate even more (the bridge is horrible, that was one lazy selection mask T_T).
Time's up but I am quite happy with the result as a first-timer!
I would like to reply. Not a critique, though, as I am so out of practice for that (not to mention architecture/landscapes are definitely not my strength).
On first sight, it is a very awe-inspiring picture, with soft "blur" all around it ensures that nobody can bother too much looking at the details, and gives the overall image a more of an surreal aura. "A city of the future," is what comes to mind.
I notice that I don't feel inspired to find aberrations on the picture, on the contrary, one just wants to believe and be taken off into a far away land. If there is anything actually wrong, it should jump out at the observer, as a feeling, an uneasiness if you will, but it really doesn't count if you keep looking for it. As I'd like to call it, that'd be simply being critical and missing the point of appreciating art.
With that said, the picture feels just right. Just perfect. I tried for a while to be critical, to find a flaw or the like, but those seem non-existant. The only thing that I spent a while thinking about, and which I could not reach a definite answer to, was the biggest building's angle. The depth angle (Z) of that building didn't seem to match the same angle of the rest in the vicinity, but I could not say this for certain, as the structure's shape doesn't give one a clear idea of its Z-axis alignment. So I mostly spent a while trying to make up my mind whether there was something wrong or not In the end I gave up and realized it wasn't just futile, but it was plain mean, to keep looking for a flaw where you can't easily sense one.
Hmm, this reply has served to teach me more about myself and my appreciation on art, than to aid you or your art. Oops Still, thanks for a piece that has taught me more of myself, even if that was totally unintended.
I suppose, art that makes the observer think and review their own views on life and art is indeed worthy of being called art.

Wow. Nice, so what program did you use to make this, or this edition for this pic? This looks amazing. You have become really good and it's good to draw different things and improve your skills. Nice. It's really looks like it's real, so you are really succeed well. How you got idea how the building would look like? Umm and what those buildings do? You have also done little detailing to the sky too and it's looks really nice. I dont know much about this art but i think you sould do these more. Great work!
This is partly a painting with a photograph as a base (I drew the houses and some clouds in Photoshop, houses inspired by many other matte painters), but it is also sort of a photo manipulation since I replaced the river with sky, and also extended the sky on top with several other photographs (and some more painting).
This style (matte paintings) are often used to make concept worlds for movies/games etc, or to use as background settings in different media. For example, most background settings you see in movies like Star Wars or LOTR are in fact matte paintings.
And yes, I really liked working like this. Taking a lot of pictures and put them together in different ways, and also draw on top of it. I am already working on more.
I made our family portrait this way before as well, here: [link] and a self-portait in similar way here: [link]
Mixed photo-manipulation and drawing is really nice for a change~
Hopefully you'll get some of the danish I'm writing now:
Du har gjort det igen! Det er alt for vildt det der. Den blå tone du har givet billedet virker super fedt. For mig giver det lidt en følelse af at der er en form for skjold omkring byen til at beskytte den. Det er virkelig noget du skal forsætte med. Du behøvede slet ikke at nævne det med broen, det ligger man ikke mærke til når alt andet er super fedt. Jeg vil se mere af den her slags!
Keep it up - I'm looking forward to your next one.
Very nice work there friend.
This would look good as a desktop wallpaper.
